The event highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s efforts in implementing the “Five-Year Plan for the Development of Mountain Regions (2023-2027)”, showcasing initiatives to promote sustainable mountain development.

Ambassador Avaazbek Atakhanov opened the event by reading a message from President Sadyr Japarov, who emphasized Kyrgyzstan’s socio-economic achievements over the past four years. Special focus was given to climate change initiatives, particularly efforts to protect mountains and glaciers.
The ambassador highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s participation in global climate discussions, including:
🔹 COP29 World Leaders’ Summit (November 12, 2024, in Baku), where President Japarov addressed the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
🔹 A high-level dialogue on mountains and climate change (November 13, 2024), jointly organized by Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, and Nepal, which resulted in an updated Declaration on Climate Change, Mountains, and Glaciers.
Ambassador Atakhanov invited Pakistan, as a fellow mountainous country, to join Kyrgyzstan in international efforts to protect mountain ecosystems.
